As an experienced educator, percussionist, pianist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, Cameron Church is an active musical artist and teacher in the Washington, D.C. area. Cameron was raised playing the drums and keyboard in Richmond, Virginia, where he learned under talented musicians like Jonathan Greenberg. Since then, he's gained over a decade of experience as a concert and marching percussionist, drumset player, and jazz pianist. He has worked as both a private tutor and a public school teacher to young and old students. Cameron's favorite part of teaching music is engaging with students' creative passions and helping them find the tools to express themselves musically.
Cameron completed his Bachelor of Arts in Music and Mathematics at the University of Virginia in 2020 under the guidance of I-Jen Fang and Leah Reid. He earned his Master of Music in Composition from the Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute in 2023, where he studied under Oscar Bettison, Felipe Lara, and Sky Macklay. Throughout his career as a composer and performer, Cameron has had the pleasure of working alongside amazing groups like the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Dal Niente and artists like Nadia Sirota and Ben Giroux. Cameron is also a co-founder of the nonprofit DEX Digital Sample Library, where he supports local artists through commissions and curating high-quality Creative Commons recordings.
