Piano, Drum

Anthony Peterson is a multi-instrumentalist whose career has spanned the better part of his life. He began playing piano at a young age under the tutelage of the talented classical pianist Irina Gorin, whose talent expanded past virtuosic playing to a high level of pedagogical prowess.

Anthony was afforded many opportunities to perform and compete,  including a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York at the age of 8, as a result of a second-place award in his division in the World Piano  Competition. His musical journey continued with his growing interest in other contemporary musical genres, such as classic rock, hip-hop, jazz,  and many others. This led Anthony to experiment with the drum set, and soon after, he decided to concentrate his efforts on percussion, which he continued to do throughout high school and college.

During high school, he was chosen twice to play in the TMEA  All-State band in 2014 and 2015 and was drum captain in the marching band. He began teaching private lessons in piano and percussion in 2016. He was taught by Glenn Fugett and percussion director Chris Vasquez, both of whom are big inspirations to Anthony.

In 2017, Anthony auditioned for and was awarded the Nordan Scholarship at Texas Christian University, which granted him full tuition. He played in many ensembles, including the percussion orchestra, wind symphony, and string orchestra. He played with the TCU Percussion Orchestra at PASIC in Indianapolis in 2019 and CBDNA in Arizona in 2018. Anthony graduated in 2022 with a general studies degree with an emphasis in musical studies in percussion. Since graduating, Anthony has continued teaching private lessons and performing as a drummer and pianist in the DFW area.

Anthony's teaching style emphasizes a broad connection to music, using the instrument the student is studying as a tool to develop their unique musical voice. This process may include learning to read music, composition, improvisation, ear training, and other facets of musical study. His goal is to foster a curiosity that motivates the student to pursue their own musical interests, the same curiosity that grows within him every day.
